Planning day!

On Friday as a group we met up outside of college and discussed our various ideas. We watched several movies that fit the genre of our work that included: 'Saw', 'The Descent' and '28 Days Later'. We liked the idea of a dingy urban environment that was in Saw and we may encorparate this element into our film. We also liked the isolation element at the beginning of 28 Days Later with the extreme long shots and liked the fact it was a very close to home type film that is pretty realistic and not too far fetched. We feel the Descent was a great film but due to the incredibly high standard of editing and artistic video work many elements of this film would be very hard to replicate.

We have decided on a basic storyline and have began on a storyboard. We have discussed different camera angles and shots we would like to use and have took into account any issues we may face such as the lack of highly expensive props and CGI. To avoid the issue of CGI and realistic monster like props etc. We have decided that to get he most out of the project and to maybe use the lack of funding as an advantage by making the film more psychologically scary.

  1. In '28 Days Later' and 'Saw' the film-makers play with the idea of a 'distopia', an urban environment gone wrong. This could be an interesting area for you to investigate further during your research
