Double page spread research

I searched the internet for examples of double page spreads that fitted my genre, good examples came from bliss which is aimed at older teenagers than my magazine but these pages where quite juvenile. The over-all effect some what resembles a scrap-book with the rough outlines and angular shapes.

The valentines spread has 3 features which is perfect for my audience who love variety.
The Saturday's spread is also a great style-model, i like the colour scheme used and the idea of following a celebrity throughout the day is likable. Similarly they have both used an outline of white on some pictures (as demonstrated on my front cover already) which I think adds to this rough, scrap book effect. However they differ in continuity across the pages. The valentine's day layout has a strip of 'ripped paper' right across the page which gives a nice effect. However The Saturday's layout makes no effort to keep continuity which I think it is lacking in.
