Here are the 3 shots of my female model Rosie that I think are the most suitable for my magazine. Of course I could use any of the photos I took, but I feel that these are the three that could feature high-profile in the magazine. Underneath each photo, I have justified why each one is great. Take a look:
.
Image 1:This is an interesting photo as the photo captures a moment. Its as if we're photographing Rosie mid-photo shoot and the inclusion of the studio equipment enhances this. The wind machine's effect is very dramatic and the model has enough attitude to command the reader's focus. There is plenty of room in the top-left portion of the frame for my masthead which is an added benefit.
Image 2:
Rosie looks ultra-feminime here which is a different side to image 1. It shows the versatility of the artist. The heart-shape of her hands is endearing to readers, and the fact that she covers one of her eyes adds a layer of ambiguity and interest to the photo. This could be used on the cover, but I currently think that this will be more functional on the contents or spread.
Image 3:
This image is particularly good as she looks effortlessy in control. Her eye contact establishes her as the focus point, but her leaning on the guitar keeps that essential music influence that the magazine requires. This photo would lend itself well to the contents page, as her chilled out aura would encourage people to skip straight to that feature. Saying that, it would also be engaging on the cover, and relevant on the spread.
Good evaluation of the images here, post some drafts of your work as you begin to combine the images with text. Taking a print screen of photoshop each lesson is an efficient way to do this (ask if you need help with this)
