We also decided to create a flash back sequence to achieve a sense of a back story to the film, title and character. As the title of the film is 'Wish you were here' we decided that our character should be writing an email to her mum much like that of a postcard often using the words 'wish you were here'. This initially allowed us to let the chatacter tell the story almost as if she were a narrator, therefore letting the audience know of her back story.
In addition, we had planned to use a male voice over to introduce 'Ethan' the leading male character who played the 'love interest' within the film. However, we felt that this would take away the main focus off 'Summer' the leading female character. We wanted the audience to sympathise with Summer as our target audeince is teenage girls that can relate to her situation, insecurites and 'boy troubles'. We did, however, still include the shot of 'Ethan' as we understand that the audience does still want to see this apparent love interest of Summer's because it fulfils their curiousity.
