Leading Text:
The next convention I worked on was my actual text. To do this I thought up a number of questions I could ask my band, that related to musical theatre as well as their personal lives. I then typed uo my questions in Microsoft Word and thought of answers I could use. Once I had written up my text I then needed to place it properly into my article. To do this I used the text tool in Adobe Photoshop. Once I had created a basic column it was a simple matter of copying and pasting that column into the rest of the article and resizing it in order to fit in all of my text.
Main Text:
Looking at that image I am rather pleased with the over all look of my article so far. However I really think it needs more colour added to it. So I am going to use a technique I have seen used in ther magazine spreads. I am going to use the text tool in Photoshop to type a huge Y. The Y standing for the name of the band I am interviewing. I am going to still use Times New Roman as my font however, my font size is going to be majorly increased to 120. I am also going to make the Y a vibrant red so that it stands out amonst the rest of my text.
Adding Colour:
Personally I think the one small technique makes my page look a lot more professional and interesting. The next convention I have concentrated on is my use of pull quotes. I wanted my pull quote to stand out so I made it part of my main image and placed it directly in the left hand corner. I decided to stick to Times New Roman as my font as I didnt want to overpower my image, However because I purposely made my image so dark, I have used white as my font colour so that it stand out against the picture. I have also used the line tool in photoshop to underline and over line the quote as I think it seperates it from my main image and makes it stand out more.
Pull Quote:
Another convention I have used is the use of an Article quote. This quote is very useful to my readers as it can help them to pin point what each section of the article is about. In order to show the difference between my main text and my article quote, I have changed the font size to 25 and I have also changed the colour of my text so that it is now a vibrant red. I am really pleased with the way the article quote looks because it breaks up my text, therefore making the text much easier to read and understand. Also the quote makes my double page much more colourful as the red contrasts really well with the white background.
Article Quote:
Next I started to add in my titles. As can be seen from above I decided to be abit more creative with where I placed my magazine title. I decided that the best way to make my title stand out would be to have it somehow involved with my main image. Therefore in order to act as a barrier and seperate my picture from my leading text, I used a red band. I then decided that my black and white title of KRESCENDO would look really effective if it over lapped not only the red bar but the picture. This can be seen in the above image.
The other title I needed to put into my double page, was the name of my girlband. I decided to use their signiture font: INKGOD as it would increase the familiarity the audience felt towards my girl band. Like with my title KRESCENDO, I decided to have a banner. However this time I decided to contrast the colour White and Black. I decided to have make my title white as it would make it different from every other time I have used it. Therefore I made my banner black as it made the white text stand out a lot more.
Title:
The final things I added to my page was my final image and my page numbers as they are both important conventions in a double page spread. Now that I have finished my first draft I am going to closely analyse it and see it there is any changes I need to make.
