Binary opposition: Halloween

In this film Halloween we see an example of binary opposition where a large, psychotic male (Michael) is the villain and a small, pretty female (Laurie) is the victim.

This format makes the situation more believable as it is perfectly feasible for a man to be hurting a girl as opposed to a child being the villain. Though, as we have seen, children and child like elements can make a film a lot more frightening, unless the acting is excellent it may be difficult for us to do.However, a childlike nature may make the character seem more more eerie.
Therefore, using the idea of man vs. woman is much more credible and therefore will make our story seem more real, ergo, scarier!
