Existing Magazine Research

This is a cover from Rolling Stone magazine. This magazine doesn't cover one specific genre of music as its cover stars range from Taylor swift; a country/pop artist to the kings of Leon an indie/rock band. The star on the cover seems to have attitude this is brought about by her image; hairstyle, tattoos, low cut top, etc. Which could target the teenaged audience.

This is a Kerrang cover, this magazine focuses on the rock genre. This is made obvious by the darker colour scheme and the style of the people in the photographs as they look slightly more moody with attitude. Again the style of this magazine suggest a teenage/young adult audience of both genders.
NME magazine reaches a wide audience as it focuses on the main stream music. It has coverstars such as The Arctic Monkeys and La roux as shown in the above photo.

This cover from Top of the Pops magazine shows a clear example of a pop music magazine. it has a bright colour scheme of pinks and purples which maybe edge its appeal more to the female audience. The star on the cover has the typical pop star image without the attitude of the previous magazine cover examples.
